Paid Sick Leave for all Connecticut Employees by 2027
On May 21, 2024, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont signed a law expanding paid sick leave requirements for nearly all private employers in the state, effective by January 1, 2027. This legislation broadens eligibility and accrual rates for paid sick leave, ensuring more employees can benefit from it.
Expanded Coverage: The law mandates that all private-sector employers provide paid sick leave, starting with those employing 25 or more employees in 2025, and eventually including all employers with at least one employee by 2027.
Broader Eligibility and Conditions: All private-sector employees, including temporary and per diem workers, will be eligible for paid sick leave. The law also allows employees to use leave for additional reasons, such as public health emergencies, and simplifies documentation requirements.
